CENTRAL ILLINOIS

Residents asked to identify top health needs

The Partnership for a Healthy Community (Healthy HOI), representing hospitals, clinics, public health, higher education, and social service agencies, is conducting a community health needs assessment in each of the communities it serves. Residents in the tri-county area can participate in an online survey or a paper survey to help identify the most important health issues impacting individuals and families.

Health officials hope that the results of the survey will help them understand and focus on the challenges and opportunities unique to each community in Woodford, Peoria and Tazewell county.

The survey, as part of the assessment process, is conducted every three years and provides a baseline to address identified health needs.

The anonymous community survey is available through Aug. 31. Both English and Spanish versions are available online at HealthyHOI.org. Paper copies are available at the Woodford, Peoria and Tazewell county health departments.

PEKIN

Super Cruise comes to town

Up to 800 cars will roll into Pekin when one of the biggest cruise-ins in the area, the Super Cruise Car and Motorcycle show, opens July 27 and July 28, in downtown Pekin. More than 7,000 people are expected to attend the family-friendly event. Admission is free.

The weekend will kick off at 5 p.m. July 27, with Bike Night, hosted by the city of Pekin. On both days, Court and Third streets near the railroad tracks will be blocked off. On July 27, Fourth Street down to Third will be closed, and on July 28, upper Court from Five Points down to Third will be blocked off, as well as one block of side streets on each side of Court except for through traffic on Fifth Street.

Classic and custom motorcycles will be judged in six categories with two trophies per category awarded. The exception is reserved for the Best of Show trophy.

The live music will be performed by the band Jack Dupp and the Empty Bottles, not Glory Days as stated on flyers about the event. The band comes from Bloomington and is known for playing songs by Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin and others.

Face painting and temporary henna tattoos will be offered on both nights.

On July 28, the Downtown Cruise will display classic, muscle and custom cars along with hot rods, rat rods and lowriders. Downtown Pekin bars will come together for a beer garden, where participants can walk around with a drink such as a beer or a wine cooler.

There will also be a live broadcast from 93.3 The Drive and a live DJ from 12-8 p.m. The cruise-in is sponsored by numerous local businesses and the city of Pekin.
