Slide the City has cancelled a Labor Day weekend event in Rockford.

Slide the City has announced that the upcoming Slide the City event scheduled for Labor Day weekend in Rockford has been canceled.

The company has canceled events in other cities as well.

“Due to a lack of participant sign ups, we had to cancel our Rockford Slide the City event,” stated a message from Slide the City emailed to ticket holders. “We are as disappointed as you are that the event has to be canceled, and are so sorry for inconveniences caused.

“Those who purchased tickets will be refunded in full. After you receive a refund confirmation from us, expect a return of funds to the credit card used to make the purchase within 5 to 10 business days. Please be aware it can take your financial institution up to 10 days after our processing to place the refund back into your account.”

The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau was first contacted by Slide the City this past spring with hopes of bringing the international event to the streets of Rockford.

“RACVB is disappointed that Slide the City and SocialTechPop had to cancel their event. We had assisted the organizers in their plans to come to Rockford and were excited about the opportunity for the city to host this event. It’s unfortunate that they’ve had to cancel events throughout the country, including Rockford,” said Josh Albrecht, RACVB director of marketing & public affairs.
