The city of Eureka said goodbye to one alderman while welcoming its newest member this month.

Ward 4 Alderman Gene Rossetti has left the council after nearly four years of service because he is moving out of the ward he represented. Rossetti joined the City Council on Sept. 2, 2014.

During his service, Rossetti has been instrumental in developing performance management standards as well as developing ongoing metrics so the city may better track its progress throughout each year.

In a statement released, the city administration said it was sad to see Rossetti go as he has been “an asset to council as he volunteered for several events and contributed several successful ideas during his tenure.”

A paver will be placed at the four-way stop to commemorate his service.

Peterson was appointed at the May 7, council meeting to replace Rossetti as Ward 4 alderman.

Peterson has served as a liaison to city on behalf of the Congerville Eureka Goodfield Community Youth Recreation Association in the past.
