Famed Comedy Opens Oct. 9 at Eureka College

EUREKA – The Eureka College Theater Department will kick off its 2012-2013 season with The Man Who Came to Dinner by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The comedy will run Oct. 9-13 at 7:30 PM and Oct. 14 at 2 PM in Pritchard Theatre. Eureka College theater professor Holly Rocke will direct.

Set in a small town in Ohio in the 1930s, in the weeks leading to Christmas, the play centers on notoriously acerbic radio personality Sheridan Whiteside of New York City. After he is invited to dine at the home of wealthy factory owner Ernest W. Stanley, Whiteside slips on the icy front porch and injures himself. His resulting indefinite stay in the Stanley home has Whiteside meddling in the affairs of the family and their acquaintances.
The play was made into a 1942 film starring Bette Davis.
In leading roles are Christopher Tam of Washington as Sheridan Whiteside, Bradley Gabehart of Streator as Ernest Stanley and Taryn Hefley of Maroa as Mrs. Stanley. Others in the cast are Belle Grober, Alyssa Martin and Rahmell Brown, all of Peoria; Kelli Robison of Henry; Coleman Payne of El Paso; Ashley Feger of Downs; Veronica Kudulis of Bolingbrook; Jerrod Barth of Minonk; Joshua Moore of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; Anna Dabrowski of Mansfield; Jake Geiger of Morton; Tim Jenkins of Watseka; and Louis Servant of Pontiac.
