Woodford County candidates file for March primary election

Candidates have filed petitions to run for various Woodford County offices in the March 2016 primary election.

Incumbent circuit court clerk Carol Newtson of Eureka, who has held the office since 2001, is not seeking re-election. The following have filed to replace her: Sheri McElroy-Baker and Neil Kamp, both of Eureka, and Lisa Jording and Lynne Gilbert, both of Congerville.

The following candidates have filed for three seats up in County Board District 1: Republicans John Delaney of El Paso, incumbent, Richard Hill of Roanoke and Donald Tolan of Minonk. The lone Democrat to file is Bradford Shepley, who is chairman of the county’s Democratic Central Committee. Terry Pille of Minonk and Dean Backer of Roanoke are not seeking re-election.

The following candidates have filed for two seats up in County Board District 2: Republicans candidates Don Cremeens, incumbent, former board member Russell Cotton and Randy Roetheler, all from Metamora.  David Pinaire, who was appointed to finish an uncompleted term, is not running.

The following candidates have filed for two seats up in County Board District 3: Republicans Andy Rokey of Eureka, former board chair Stan Glazier of Congerville and Bryant Kempf of Eureka. Shannon Rocke and Andrew Martin are not seeking re-election.

The Woodford County Board consists of 15 elected members, five from three districts, who must be voted into office every four years. A board chairman is elected every two years from within the body.  

The primary election will be held March 15.
