Primary election evening marked by severe storms

Illinois 031616 severe weather copyMuch of Illinois has been under severe weather watches and warnings throughout much of the evening.

The National Weather Service severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 3 a.m. Wednesday for the following Illinois counties;

Winnebago, Boone,McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois and Ford.

Weather hazards expected to include thunderstorms that could be accompanied by hail to the size of half dollars and isolated wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. Possibly a tornado. For more updates, go to the NWS web site at  http://www.weather.gov/lot/.
