Local Lore Lecture Series: DeKalb’s Historic Cemeteries 

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

A new lecture series, Local Lore, kicks off with a lecture about DeKalb’s cemeteries. Local historian Steve Bigolin will share his knowledge about the cemeteries, including Oakwood, Pleasant Street, Evergreen, St. Mary’s, and Fairview, and will talk about the preservation of these landmarks. Sycamore Pig Roast Drive-Thru Dinner 

4-6 p.m. 

Federated Church of Sycamore, 612 W. State St. Sycamore 

$12 per dinner 

Drive through the Federated Church parking lot for dinner. Inboden’s Meats will cater meals that will include pulled pork from a roasted pig, baked beans, twice baked potato salad, applesauce, roll and a homemade dessert. DeKalb Safe Sitter Program

8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. 

Kish Hospital Roberts Conference Center, 1 Kish Hospital Drive, DeKalb

This internationally recognized babysitting program teaches 11- to 13-year-olds the skills to provide children in their care a safe, nurturing environment. Includes Safe Sitter backpack, manual, supplies and light refreshments. Attendees should bring a sack lunch. DeKalb Daisy Dash 5K Run/Walk Bb Lehan Drugs 

9 a.m.  

Lehan Drugs 1407 S. 4th St., DeKalb 

$25 registration fee; $30 day of the race 

The route will start and end in the Lehan Drug parking lot and will encompass the surrounding neighborhood sidewalks. Proceeds will go to KishHealth Foundation for the Charity Care Mammogram Fund. In honor/memory of pinwheels can be purchased for a $5 donation and will include the name of the beneficiary.
