Karen'??s Corner: Elvesâ?? Belly Buttons

¾ C shortening
½ C sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract
1 box lime Jello
2 ½ C flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch saltv
Bag cinnamon drop candies

Preheat oven to 375º.
Mix dough and roll into small balls (about the size of an English walnut in the shell). (If the dough is too sticky at first, you can dust the dough with flour and stir, or you can just let the dough rest a bit. Handle the dough balls gently.)
Smoosh the balls to make them flatter with the heel of your hand or the bottom of a glass that has been dipped in granulated sugar.
Put a cinnamon drop in the center of each cookie.
Bake for 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Do not let the tops brown. Makes 5 doz. 1½” cookies.
Store in a tight container.
