Science Tellers: Wild West Show

Join Science Tellers for an action-packed story set in the Wild West in which two young heroes saddle up to foil a legendary bank-robbing outlaw’s devious plans–but not before stopping a runaway train, escaping an abandoned mine shaft and discovering how a mysterious piano can play an “instrumental” part in putting a rotten cowboy back behind bars! Throughout the story, audience volunteers help explore the science behind chemical reactions, combustion, air pressure, inertia and more. No registration is needed. Second Time Around will covers the songs of Yes, Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Walsh, Boston, Deep Purple, the Doobie Brothers, Rolling Stones and Pretenders. Bring a picnic or purchase food and beverages from the Caddyshack Grill. If you want to move and dancing isn’t your thing, activities you may enjoy while listening to the show include volleyball, outdoor table tennis, horseshoes and fishing.

Enjoy the underwater movie “Deep” under the stars while floating in an inner tube. Hopkins Pool will re-open at 8:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 8:45 p.m. The kiddie pool, diving well and slides will not be open during this event.

“Jumanji, Welcome to the Jungle”

In this PG-13 movie, four teenagers in detention discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of. When they decide to play, they are immediately sucked into the jungle world of Jumanji in the bodies of their avatars. They’ll have to complete the adventure of their lives filled with fun, thrills, and danger or be stuck in the game forever.

Ellwood Explorers: I Was Here!

Ellwood Explorers is a series of youth educational programs. For 139 years, the mansion has served as a “time capsule,” helping those in the present to understand the personalities and pastimes of Ellwood family members. In this session, learn about the sources the museum uses to uncover information about the past and create a time capsule for future historians. All ages are welcome. Hinckley Family Fun Fest and Fireworks

Come at 2:30 p.m. and decorate your bike for the kick-off bike parade. Also, pony rides, bounce houses, petting zoo, airbrush temporary tattoos, bingo, food trucks and more are planned. The 2nd annual Car, Truck & Tractor Show will be held from 3-7 p.m. Vendors, crafters, artisans and other businesses will sell their wares. At 7 p.m., Whiskey Romance will perform. BarnBQue is an outdoor event, with all proceeds benefit Adventure Works youth services in DeKalb County. Guests will enjoy custom a live auction, cuisine from food trucks, beverages from the Cider House at Jonamac Orchard, games, auctions and music. This event is for adults only.
