Imperial Crane Services in Bridgeview donated to the city of Aurora crane services to remove, transport and anchor a new tree all estimated to be more than $1,000.

Imperial Crane Services in Bridgeview has offered pro bono services to the city of Aurora to replace its Christmas Tree that was toppled by high winds the evening it was lit.

“We saw the story on the news and wanted to help out,” said B.J. Bohne, president & CEO of Imperial Cranes. “I’ve attended events in Aurora and they are always so wonderful. We just didn’t want the cost of crane services to be a deciding factor in replacing the tree for the Aurora community.”

Donated crane services to remove, transport and anchor a new tree is estimated to be more than $1,000.

“This act of kindness is very much appreciated, “said Mayor Robert J. O’Connor. “In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are truly thankful for Imperial Crane Services and their generosity. Many families will still be able to include the city’s tree in their holiday cards and celebrations.”

The city of Aurora has assessed the damage cause by the toppled tree and is working with contractors to repair the area, which could take up to two weeks to complete.

A new tree has been donated by the Reynolds family on Prairie Street in Aurora. Plans to harvest and transport the 40-ft tall pine tree are scheduled for the week of Dec. 5. Specific details will be announced soon.

“It was very unfortunate what happened to the initial tree, but what it has allowed to be spotlighted is being of service to your community and caring for your fellow neighbors. That’s the true meaning of the holiday season,” said O’Connor.
