The Aurora Historical Society’s Independence Day Celebration takes place July 4 at the William Tanner House, 305 Cedar St., from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Windy City Warbirds and Classics RC Air Show, Fox Valley Aero Club, 3821 Karl Madsen Drive St. Charles, $5 admission, kids under 12 free. Fox Valley Aero Club, a Radio Control Model Airplane Group features three days of of continuous flying of giant scale Warbirds and Classics from the WWI and WWII era. River Rhapsody Concert Series, Batavia Riverwalk, 100 Island Ave., Batavia, 7-8:30 p.m. The band 1976 recreate all the favorites by bands and musicians like Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Heart, Boston, Steve Miller, Bad Company, Pat Benatar, The Cars, Elton John and other rock bands from the 70’s. First Time Home Buyers with Down Payment Assistance, Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Even if you have done your research, buying a home for the first time can be overwhelming. Gears and Ears Midwest Car Show, Kendall County Fairgrounds | 10826 Rt. 71 | Yorkville, 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Midwest Street Rod Association of Illinois presents the nationally known car show and swap wuith over 600 cars on display. Information: 630-553-2860.

Downtown Alive! 97 Nine and Chicago 6, RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway, Aurora, 6-11 p.m. Former Chicago Bear Dan Hampton has put the band back together with his former Super Bowl teammates Otis Wilson and Steve McMichael for a revival of the Chicago 6 – a band originally formed out of the free time created by the 1987 NFL strike. Burlington Independence Day celebration, 5:30 p.m., Burlington Park. Local food vendors, music, a ceremony honoring veterans and featuring an evening fireworks display.

JULY 4

Aurora’s Independence Day Celebration, downtown Aurora, 23 E. Galena Blvd., 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Bring the family downtown for a monumental parade in the morning, family-friendly fun during the day and then for fireworks in the evening. Aurora’s Independence Day Parade steps off at 10am. This year’s theme is “Party on Aurora” in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Wayne’s World. Family activities and fireworks in two locations: RiverEdge Park,  360 N. Broadway Ave. Great food along with an amazing view of the fireworks at Aurora’s premier outdoor concert venue. Enjoy the American Legion Band and the Fox Valley Orchestra. Gates open at 3pm. McCullough Park – Illinois Ave. & Lake St. Local food vendors with taste-tempting treats and free fun for all with inflatables and music. Batavia’s 4th of July Sky Concert, Mooseheart Field / Engstrom Park, 326 Millview Dr., Batavia, 5-10 p.m. Batavia hosts one of the most celebrated fireworks productions in the western suburbs  with a 50-year history of being produced and paid for by local citizens.
