Lake County

County nets pair of awards for excellence in service

Lake County announced that it was recently honored with two awards: the 2018 Tyler Public Sector Excellence Award for implementing an innovative new integrated permit and inspection system; and the American Public Works Association (APWA) 2018 Excellence in Snow and Ice Control Award, presented to the Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) for being a leader in snow and ice removal. In an effort to further integrate multiple county departments into a single unified permitting system, Lake County implemented EnerGov, a new integrated permit and inspection software system, in 2017. The Tyler Public Sector Excellence Award was presented to organizations exhibiting leadership, innovation and excellence in successfully integrating the EnerGov system. The APWA award was presented to agencies promoting the best practices in snow and ice removal while minimizing environmental impacts. The Lake County Health Department and the Stormwater Management Commission support the snow and ice control program through training, river monitoring, researching best practices and providing educational opportunities to the county’s regional partners.
