Public hearing to address intersection project

The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will host a public hearing concerning the Ela Road at Long Grove Road Intersection Improvement Study from 5-7 p.m. June 28 in the gymnasium at Village Church of Barrington, 1600 E. Main St., Barrington. The purpose of the public hearing is to present the Preferred Alternative for the proposed intersection improvement project and gather feedback from the public. The study was initiated to address intersection safety, existing capacity, and pedestrian and bicyclist accommodations in the project area. During the meeting, the project study team will provide an update on the Phase I progress, schedule and public involvement activities, as well as introduce the design of the Preferred Alternative. The meeting will be conducted in an informal, open-house format. Exhibits will be on display, and an audio-visual presentation — on a continuous loop — will be shown in an adjacent area. Mundelein

School districts 75, 120 to share one superintendent

The village announced that the Mundelein School District 75 and Mundelein High School District 120 boards of education have agreed to a system of shared services under the leadership of one shared superintendent. Under terms of the agreement, current District 120 Superintendent Kevin Myers now assumes the role of superintendent for both districts. Current District 75 Superintendent Andy Henrikson announced his retirement, effective at the conclusion of the 2018-19 school year. The recommendation to share a superintendent came from the Joint District 75/120 Shared Services Committee, comprised of board members, teachers, parents and community members from each district. The committee agreed that sharing a superintendent would benefit both districts in the following ways: increased student achievement through an aligned K-12 curriculum; and increased funding to support student learning by reducing expenses for administration and operations. Each district will contribute to the superintendent’s salary and benefits based upon student enrollment in both districts. For more information, call 847-949-3283 or visit www.mundelein.org.
