METAMORA – Antique tractors and steam engines will be the topic of the July 9th meeting of the Woodford County Historical Society. Gary Sutton and Kevin Engquist, members of the Three Sisters Antique Tractor Club in Chillicothe, will give the presentation at Snyder Village Community Room, 1200 E. Partridge, Metamora, IL. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The Tractor Club is dedicated to the preservation of the tradition of antique tractors and farm equipment. Headquartered at Three Sisters Park, they have set up many exhibits including a saw mill that is operated by pulley and belt from a 1940 Caterpillar D13000 power unit. Their big event of the year is the Annual Three Sisters Farm Heritage Days which will be held August 15-16 this year.

The Woodford County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving our history in all its varied and colorful forms. Meeting the second Thursday of each month, March through December, at different places within the county, the group welcomes any and all. There is neither a pre-registration requirement nor any entry fee.
The August 13th meeting will honor the legendary Irwin Bauman, corn husking champion of the country in 1940. Irwin’s son Don and Don’s wife, Marge, will be the presenters. The meeting will be held at the Roanoke Park Building at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
