Spring Grove

Spring Grove Fire Dist. purchases new CPR device, defibrillators

The village reported that the Spring Grove Fire District Trustees recently voted to purchase a LUCAS CPR device with funds obtained from various donations. The device, which standardizes compression in accordance with the latest scientific guidelines, can be applied in 20 seconds or less and can perform compressions under less than ideal conditions (such as in a moving ambulance). Studies have shown that a higher blood flow to the brain and heart is achieved with the device, compared to manual compressions. Using the device also allows rescuers to perform other life-saving skills during emergency situations. The LUCAS CPR device was purchased along with new Cardial Monitor Defibrillators, replacing the current LifePak 12 units. In addition, plans are underway to continue to raise funds for the purchase of a second LUCAS CPR device. For more information, call (815) 675-2121 or visit www.springgrovevillage.com.
