Men sentenced for sexual assaults in McHenry County

Two men have been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting children in McHenry County.

David Freeman, 29, formerly of Bloomington, was sentenced to 11 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Freeman was sentenced Dec. 23.

He pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a minor, who was under 13 years of age, from September 2016 to February 2017..

Detective Verle Leard of the Harvard Police Department investigated the case.

In the other case, Lorentino Martinez-Tejeda was sentenced to eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Martinez-Tejada, 37, formerly of McHenry, was sentenced Dec. 20.

He pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a minor, who was under 13 years of age, from November 2017 to August 2018.

Sgt. Nick Clesen and Detective Brett Kinney of the McHenry Police Department investigated the case.

Both Freeman and Martinez-Tejada must serve at least 85 percent of their sentence, with no day-for-day credit, followed by a three-year to natural life period of mandatory supervised release, Both Freeman and Martinez-Tejada will have to register as a sex offender, upon their release from custody, and do so for the rest of their life.

McHenry County Circuit Court Judge Robert Wilbrandt handed down the sentence in each case.
