The Normal Police Department June 10 spent the day camped on the rooftop of the Dunkin’ Donuts at 1603 N. Main Street in Normal.  This is the second year the Normal PD has participated in the Cop on Rooftop fundraiser, which has been raising money and awareness for Special Olympics over the last 13 years.

Raising additional awareness for the Special Olympics, approximately 3,000 officers will participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, carrying the “Flame of Hope” nearly 1,500 miles, running through numerous Illinois communities to its final destination, in Normal.  The Normal PD’s portion of the Torch Run begins on Friday, June 12 at 8:00 a.m. in Gibson City.

The opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games will be held this Friday, June 12.
