Twelve Angry Men, presented By Usual Suspects, Nordlof Center 118 N. Main St., Rockford, 8 p.m., Thursday-Saturday, $18. Twelve jurors each reveal his or her own characters as various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes! Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and the jurors become 12 angry men.

1960s: The Generation of Love and War, Midway Village Museum,  6799 Guilford Rd., Rockford,10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, $7 adults, $5 children ages 3-17, free for children up to age 2 and museum members. The temporary exhibition invites visitors to take a journey back in time to examine some of the major topics and events that occurred during the 1960s and how it impacted the Rockford area. Black History Month Sale and Display presented By Rockford Urban Ministries, JustGoods Fair Trade Store Gallery, 201 7th St., Rockford, free admission, Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Annual Black History Month Sale and Display of books, posters and art work associated with the struggle of African Americans. In Full Bloom: The Orchid Exhibit, Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens,  1354 N. 2nd St., 9 a.m.05 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, $6 resident adults, $8 non-residents adults, lower entry fee for seniors, students. It may be the depths of winter, but Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens is teeming with color with hundreds of tropical orchids creatively displayed in the warm tropical exhibition area.

Special Exhibit: Curious George – Let’s Get Curious!, Discovery Center Museum,  711 N. Main St., Rockford, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, $1 members, $11 public. Based on the familiar characters in H.A. and Margret Rey’s classic stories, the Curious George exhibit inspires young children’s natural curiosity as they explore early science, math and engineering through hands-on interactive play. The Rockford Area Arts Awards will be presented on Wednesday at a celebration at the Rockford Art Museum, 711 N. Main. Hosted by the Rockford Area Arts Council, Mayor Thomas McNamara and Winnebago County Chairman Frank Haney, the awards and fundraiser will honor  recipients and celebrate achievements in the arts for the past year. cultural arts event during the 2016-2017 season which brought heightened visibility to the arts. Chocoholic Frolic, presented by The Arc of Winnebago, Boone and Ogle Counties, 5:30 p.m., Giovanni’s Restaurant & Conference Center 610 N. Must be purchased in advance.  The 11th Annual Chocoholic Frolic, presented by BMO Harris Bank, is Rockford’s sweetest night of the year. This sweet mix of chocolate and charity boasts over thirty different vendors with chocolate inspired creations. Poetry Out Loud – Regional Contest, presented by  Rockford Area Arts Council, Nordlof Center 118 N. Main St., 6 p.m., free. Students from Jefferson and Roosevelt high schools will participate in the Northern Illinois Poetry Out Loud regional contest. The first and second place winners of this competion advance to Illinois’ State Poetry Out Loud Competition, being held Friday, March 9 in Springfield. The state champion advances to the Poetry Out LoudNational Finals held April 23-25  in Washington, D.C. where $50,000 in awards and school stipends will be distributed. Information: (815) 963-6765.

38th Annual Rockford Home Show, presented by Showtime Productions, Indoor Sports Center at Merchyhealth Sportscore Two 8800 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park, 3-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, $6 adults, free for kids under 12. See what’s new for the home and garden. Dead Guy Festival, presented by Haunted Rockford, Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum 211 N. Main St., Rockford, noon-5 p.m., $15 in advance, $20 at door. This event features speakers on ghosts, insanity, murder and mayhem. Host Kathi Kresol will share “Unsolved Crimes of Winnebago County” and Eve Harker from the Luna Datura Curious Gifts will give tips on cleansing your house of negativity. Author Terri Reid will also present some of her favorite freaky stories she has researched for her “Freaky Friday” series on Facebook .
