EUREKA – Three Eureka College students will study in China this fall through a grant from the Caterpillar Foundation. Nolan Gibson of Pontiac, Nathaniel Louis of Putnam and Justin Hayse of Chillicothe will study at Lingnan University in Hong Kong Aug. 29-Dec. 21.

Eureka College received a $75,000 grant from the Caterpillar Foundation in February to allow five sophomores, juniors or seniors who are majoring in business administration, computer studies or accounting to study in China during the fall 2012 or spring 2013 semesters. The grant will pay for students’ travel expenses, tuition, housing and meals. Two students for the spring semester will be selected later.
Gibson is a junior majoring in business administration. He is a son of David and Amy Gibson of Pontiac and a 2010 graduate of Pontiac Township High School.
Louis is a junior majoring in computer studies management information systems. He is a son of Joe and Jill Louis of Putnam and a 2010 graduate of Henry-Senachwine High School.
Hayse is a senior majoring in business administration. He is a son of Darren and Kimberly Hayse of Peoria Heights and a 2008 graduate of Peoria Heights High School.

The grant is part of Caterpillar’s $1 million pledge to the U.S. State Department’s “100,000 Strong Initiative” to increase the number of American college students studying in China, according to Michele Sullivan, Caterpillar Foundation vice president.
