Kendall communities to hold Memorial Day ceremonies

Downtown Aurora
Vietnam veteran, local labor leader and lifelong Auroran Scott Roscoe, will lead the annual parade in downtown Aurora.
This year’s theme is “In Memory of Many…In Honor of All”.
The parade route will begin at Benton and River, head east on Benton, north on Broadway, west on Downer Place and ending at River Street. The Memorial Day Reviewing Stand will be in front of the David L. Pierce Art and History Center at 20 East Downer Place for best viewing.
Parking
Lots C, I and L are closed. Lots B, D, G, Q and R may be accessed until 11:30 a.m. on Memorial Day. Those five lots will re-open again at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Montgomery

Riverside Cemetery, 414 N. River St., Montgomery
The Montgomery Memorial VFW Post 7452 will host their annual ceremony at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery.
Lunch will follow directly afterward at the post, 121 N. River St., Montgomery.
Oswego
May 30
10 a.m.
Downtown Oswego
The Oswego American Legion Post #675 Memorial Day parade will step off at 10 a.m. and will wind its way through the downtown on Franklin, Garfield, Jefferson and Main streets. Parade-goers are encouraged to follow the parade to its conclusion at the Oswego Township Cemetery on Main Street for a memorial service provided by the Legion.
Plano

Veteran’s Memorial Park, Main St. and Route 34, Plano
The Plano Legion will host a memorial with military honors at Veteran’s Memorial Park. A march up Center Street to the cemetery for recognition and tribute to veterans will follow.
Sandwich

Various locations
Memorial services will take place throughout Sandwich as part of the VFW’s day of recognition. Those wishing to attend can follow along with the procession, which will begin at the town Gazebo at 11 a.m., then travel to the Oak Ridge Cemetery, St. Paul Cemetery, Pratt Road Cemetery and the Pine Mount Cemetery. The group will arrive back at the VFW around 12: 40 p.m.
Somonauk

The Somonauk Memorial Day Celebration will be held in the center of town. Included in the festivities will be a Memorial parade, water fights and Fay’s BBQ pork chops.
Yorkville
May 30
7:40 a.m.
Yorkville American Legion, 9054 Veterans Pkwy., Yorkville
The Legion’s Honor Guard and Riffle Squad will be “posting colors” in front of the post at 7:40 a.m.
Then the post’s Honor Guard, Rifle Squad, and American Legion Riders will head to the following cemeteries to and provide the same service in honor of our fallen heroes.
They will go to Cross Lutheran Cemetery at 8:30 a.m., Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery at 9 a.m., the Pavilion Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., the Bristol Cemetery at 10 a.m., and the Elmwood Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.. By 11:30 a.m., the VFW will arrive at the Yorkville Town Square for a service.
Route 47 and Main Street. There will be speeches from community and veterans group leaders.
