The obesity problem may cost the Woodford County taxpayer. Since the 1970’s the Woodford County Board has consisted of fifteen members and sat around the same tables to conduct their meetings. Recently there has been some discussion about having another table made, to match the original tables, to give the board members more room.

As a generation we are larger than we used to be, and growing larger, with every bite – and, what a revoltin’ development this is! Not necessarily a bad thing, but on the other hand, I have to wonder if it is because of obesity or ego?

They set up a table to see if it will work out (I hope before they spend tax money to have a matching table built). One of the committee members, however, suggested that instead of trying to match the existing tables, the county just buy all new tables.

Since they are going to make some type of change, maybe they will try various table arrangements. I’d like to see the board members facing the audience. Currently they sit facing the other members, with their backs to the public. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable having my back to taxpayers. I’d like the voters to see how interested and professional I was.

I remember when they moved a meeting at the college, for a bigger meeting place, because of an expected larger attendance. The board members all sat in a line facing the audience.

As we grow, we continue to grow – well, if you eat regularly. I suppose we could all eat healthier. It might prolong our life, or just make us think so because we may not always enjoying what we eat.
