Bloomington firm gets nod for World Series apparel if Cubs win

As the Chicago Cubs continue their pursuit of going all the way this season, a Bloomington-based apparel company is patiently waiting on the final outcome.

Minerva Promotions, 608 IAA Drive, has been tapped to create and ship thousands of screen-printed World Series champion T-shirts if the Cubs are able to topple their rivals, the Cleveland Indians.

Tony Todaro, president of Minerva, said he and his staff are on standby, ready and waiting to print and ship the commemorative T-Shirts if the Cubs are indeed the champions.

If the outcome occurs as Todaro and scores of other Illinois residents hope, Minerva has pledged to ship the T-shirts to retailers across the state by the following morning.

“Like many fans in Illinois, the staff at Minerva Promotions is just as excited, especially with another reason to hope for a Cubbies’ win,” Todaro said. “(The company) is honored to be part of such a prominent time in the history of the Chicago Cubs and to be able to share in their success.”

When the Cubs took home the National League championship title, Todaro said Minerva was approached by Major League Baseball and Cubs representatives “to help fulfill the deep desire for fans to have the apparel that they want.”

This is not the first time Minerva has been in the thick of championship excitement. In 2007, the company supplied apparel when the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts faced off in Super Bowl XLI.

Minerva’s roots in Bloomington go back to 1993. The company’s plant is capable of producing 1,000 to 1,750 T-shirts per hour, and its menu of services includes retail and wholesale screen-printing, embroidery and a range of promotional products.
