 MOMENCE – Frankfort’s Lincoln Way East High School marching band was one of last year’s entries in the Glad Fest parade. The Friday parade will follow the Car Parade on Main Street.

MOMENCE – The 73rd annual Momence Glad Festival has adopted a country theme this year. It will run from Wednesday, August 11 through Sunday, August 15 and will have something for everyone to enjoy. The Princess and Queen coronation will be on Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the High School Football Field. Admission to this presentation is $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for children.

Thursday, August 12 will feature a Kids’ parade on Washington Street at 6:30 PM and a carnival at the Je-Neir School Grounds. The carnival is open from 7:00 – 11:00 PM. There is a $1.00 admission to the carnival grounds.
Friday has quite a line-up. The Glad Run for Children will be at the Reviewing Stand at 3:00 PM, followed by ‘Dave Rudolf Family Entertainment.’ At 5:30 PM the Car Parade begins on Main Street followed by the Glad Fest Parade at 6:00. The carnival is open from 6:30 – 11:00 PM and there will be a beer tent for adults from 8:30 – 12:00 PM. The night’s entertainment is provided by ‘Black Cadillac.’
Saturday will find runners stepping off at 8:00 AM on a 5K and 10K River Run sponsored by the Lion’s Club. An Antique Car Show and Car Corral Giant Flea, Swap, and Craft Market will be open at Momence Island Park from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The Grand Street Parade will begin at 3:00 PM, and the carnival will open at 4:00 PM.
The “Gladiolus Festival of Music” SDCA’s Arena drum corps show will be  6:30 PM on Saturday, and live music from 8:00 – midnight will be provided by ‘Libido Funk Circus’ at the River Street Stage. Admission to the concert is $5.00. The Glad Fest Raffle Drawing will be held at the River Street Stage at 11:00 PM.
The Antique Farm Tractor and Classic Truck Show will be at Momence Island Park on Sunday from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM along with the flea market and craft show. Admission to Momence Island Park is $2.00.

 Also on Sunday will be the adult bean bag tournament and beer tent from noon until 4:00 PM.
The first Gladiolus Festival dates back to 1938, and in 1939 the association was formed which is still in existence today.
