Author and Commentator Michael Barone to Speak at Eureka College Reagan Day February 6

Event to benefit College’s Reagan-related programs

EUREKA — Eureka College will hold its 5th annual Ronald Reagan Day Feb. 6 to celebrate and benefit its Reagan-related programs. Keynote speaker will be political analyst and co-author of The Almanac of American Politics, Michael Barone, who will discuss “Ronald Reagan: The Next 100 Years.”
The event will begin with a social hour at 6:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, East Peoria. Dinner will be at 7:30 p.m., followed by Barone’s presentation. Cost is $101 in recognition of the 101st anniversary of the birth of Ronald Reagan Feb. 6. Tables for 10 are available for $1,000.
The event will benefit the Ronald Reagan Leadership Program, which awards full-tuition scholarships to six incoming freshmen each year; the Ronald Reagan Museum at Eureka College; and other Reagan-related programs at the college, according to John Morris, director of the Ronald W. Reagan Society at Eureka College.
“The Reagan Society is delighted to invite the public to help us celebrate the values of learning, service and leadership instilled in Ronald Reagan as a student at Eureka College, while also welcoming a renowned guest speaker and one of America’s greatest political minds, Michael Barone,” Morris said. “It is a rare opportunity to hear from such an entertaining author, commentator and walking encyclopedia, who arguably understands American political trends and history more than any other person alive today.”
The Almanac of American Politics, features in-depth analysis and comprehensive profiles of every congressional district, state, governor and member of Congress. Barone is the senior political analyst at the Washington Examiner and a contributor at Fox News Channel. He is a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. In 2010 he received the Bradley Prize from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation. He has written many books on American politics and history. His most recent book is “Our First Revolution: The Remarkable British Upheaval That Inspired America’s Founding Fathers.” He received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a bachelor of laws degree from Yale Law School.
Reagan Day also will recognize the members of the Reagan Society, whose contributions support the Reagan legacy programs at Eureka College.
