The Riverside Police Department says residents can drop off unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at the Riverside police station lobby, 31 Riverside Road.

Police cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches, according to the Riverside Police Department. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked, according to the police department.

Disposing of pills at drug take-back events helps to prevent pill abuse and theft, according to police, and disposing of  unused medicines by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash can pose public safety risks.
