Fifteen-month-old Teddy Hirschauer was among the first to dine on a bowl of gourmet macaroni and cheese on opening day of downtown Naperville’s newest restaurant — The Craftsman.

Teddy’s mom, Maura Hirschauer and fellow Batavia resident Jessica Benelli had finished a three-mile jog along one of Naperville’s paths earlier that morning before grabbing leather lounge seats on the first floor of the three story restaurant.

Having dined at other Two Brothers establishments, they decided to check out the latest offering on opening day. joining other customers who flocked to one of three separate service stations on the restaurant’s first floor.

Taking a “decidedly different approach,” the latest Two Brothers restaurant introduced its new multi-level dining experience last Wednesday at 16 W. Jefferson.

The third restaurant in the Chicagoland area for the real-life brother team of Jim and Jason Ebel, The Craftsman offers a first floor market café, a locally-sourced farm-to-table restaurant on the second floor and a third floor cocktail bar which will feature high-end handmade cocktails as well as a rooftop deck.

Among the visitors was North Central College student Lizzie Baumgartner, who opted for coffee on a break from classes.

An enthusiastic coffee drinker, Baumgartner said she came for some of the special-grade small-batch coffee brewed by Two Brothers.

Other patrons lined up for sandwiches or salads from the deli or grabbed a glass of wine or a Two Brothers beer from the café bar.

In addition to a juice and smoothie bar, pastries and other breakfast options, and an artisan deli, the café’s first floor also includes a floor length Himalayan salt wall that will cure meats on site.

The first floor market opens at 6 a.m. daily and 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The restaurant’s second floor restaurant — which opens at 5 p.m. and earlier for weekend brunch — offers farm-to-table dining, reflecting the Two Brothers commitment to creating “real” food from a 100 percent from scratch kitchen.

Created by head chef, Jason Robinson the revised menu will include items such as homemade Horseradish gnocchi with pancetta and spinach, in-house aged steaks and sustainable seafood dishes.

Later in October, the third floor high-end cocktail bar will open. The bar will have its own private entrance and will feature Two Brothers beer, wine and small plates.

“We wanted to create a place that housed all of our passions under one roof. With farm-to-table food and craft beverages including coffee, tea and cocktails, The Craftsman shows we are more than a beer company,” said Jason Ebel, co-founder of Two Brothers Brewing Company.

“This is another step in our growth and evolution as a company—while we will be selling Two Brothers beer at The Craftsman, we will not have on-site brewing. It is an entirely new concept focused on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, which will be organic and from within 200 miles of the restaurant whenever possible.”

The new venture replaces the Wise Boxer which had been located on the site since May 2013 and closed in January 2016.

The Craftsman is the latest entry in a Two Brothers brand that also includes a 40,000-square-foot brewing facility in Warrenville, the adjacent Two Brothers Tap House, the 70,000-square-foot Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora, and the Two Brothers Tap House and Brewery in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Two Brothers Brewing Company was founded by Jim and Jason Ebel in late 1996 and in addition to operating four restaurants Two Brothers Brewing Company offers eight year-round beers, nine seasonal and a number of artisan project releases throughout the year.

Two Brothers other ventures include Two Brothers Coffee Roasters, which produced over 75,000 pounds of small-batch, roasted, specialty-grade coffee in 2015
