Two anchor stores were decorated for the holidays and customers were busy seeking holiday gifts inside on a recent weekday visit to the Charlestowne Mall side on St. Charles’ far east side.

But the rest of the mall remained quiet and empty, awaiting a promised redevelopment.

The mostly vacant mall is to be relaunched as “The Quad St. Charles” sometime in 2016.

According to the city of St. Charles’ web site, property developer The Krausz Companies told the city it is “fully committed to the redevelopment of The Quad.”

Mall anchors Von Maur, Carson Pirie Scott, Kohl’s and Classic Cinemas will continue to anchor the center. Additionally, Krausz Companies has partnered with the MG Herring Group and Tricom Real Estate Group to strengthen the development and leasing team.

Charlestowne Mall opened in 1991.
