  1. July 28: Mario Mejia, 39, of Elgin, was arrested and charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm and domestic battery involving physical contact.
  2. July 28: James Hass, 21, of Edgerton, was arrested and charged with speeding 11-14 mph above limit, driving on a suspended driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
  3. July 28: Joseph Justes, 56, of Alden, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
  4. July 29: Brian Bederske, 41, of Barrington, was arrested and charged with violating an order of protection.
  5. July 29: Nicole Berlinguette, 41, of McHenry, was arrested and charged with reckless driving.
  6. July 29: Cesar Bermudez, 27, of Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license and speeding 11-14 mph above limit.
  7. July 29: Thomas Odriscoll, 51, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with carrying /possessing a firearm. Odriscoll was transported to McHenry County Jail.
  8. July 29: Richard Kabat, 44, of McHenry, was arrested and charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving on a revoked driver’s license and a headlight/taillight violation.
  9. July 30: Jared Meyer, 18, of Richmond, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and consumption of alcohol by a minor.
  10. July 30: Jaqueline Fes, 23, of McHenry, was arrested and charged with retail theft of display merchandise greater than $300.
  11. July 31: Walter Amador, 25, of Crystal Lake, was arrested and charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm.
  12. August1: Gregory Fisher, 32, of McHenry, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
  13. August 1: Christine Frer, 43, of Johnsburg, was arrested and charged with violating an order of protection.
  14. August 2: Kaylie McCluskey, 40, of Crystal Lake, was arrested and charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm.
  15. August 2: Gregory Stoll, 40, of McHenry, was arrested and charged with two counts battery causing bodily harm. Stoll was transported to McHenry County Jail.
  16. August 3: Judy Holy, 64, of Huntley, was arrested and charged with retail theft of display merchandise greater than $300.

 

Sheriffs Office investigates fatal pedestrian crash

Robert P. Choate, 41, of Johnsburg was pronounced dead Aug. 4, following a crash in unincorporated McHenry at 8:53 a.m.

Preliminary investigation indicated that Robert, a pedestrian, entered the lanes of Route 120 near Kent Road. Robert was struck by an eastbound 2012 International box truck then struck by an eastbound 1995 Peterbilt tractor and semi-trailer.

Robert was transported from the scene by McHenry Township Fire Protection District to Centegra – McHenry, where he died. None of the occupants of the trucks was injured. Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Detective Division and Traffic Crash Investigations Unit, the Illinois State Police, and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office. Members of the McHenry and Lakemoor Police Departments assisted at the scene.

 

Sheriff’s Office investigates fatal motorcycle crash

On Aug. 2, at approximately 11:10 a.m., McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a three-vehicle crash on Northwest Highway (Route 14) east of Sands Road, in unincorporated Crystal Lake.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2009 Yamaha Raider S motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Northwest Highway at approximately 11:10 a.m. Aug. 2 when it entered the westbound lane of travel striking two vehicles; a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer and a 2014 Ford Fusion. The impact caused the Yamaha to exit the north side of the roadway where it came to a rest in the tall grass.

The driver of the Yamaha, Vincent E Franchi, 50, was not wearing a helmet. Vincent was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital by Crystal Lake Rescue, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Chevrolet, Daniel R Williams, 45, and his passenger, Lori L Straub, 45, were not injured and were wearing their seatbelts. The driver of the Ford, Thomas A Wiley, 44, had minor injuries to his left wrist and was treated and released on scene by Crystal Lake Rescue. Thomas was wearing his seatbelt and there was airbag deployment in the vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit. Members of the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, Crystal Lake Police Department and the McHenry County Conservation District also assisted at the scene.
