Woodford 4-H shooting sports open for spring enrollment

The Woodford County 4-H Shooting Sports program is getting ready for its spring/summer season.

Youth and parents interested in getting involved in the project should attend informational meeting at the Woodford County Farm Bureau at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 15.

It will be a general informational meeting to go over the shooting disciplines of Archery, .22 Rifle, Shotgun, Air Rifle, and Air pistol. 4-H membership and enrollment is required to participate. Air rifle, Air pistol, and Archery is open to all youth 8 years and up.

To participate in shotgun and .22 Rifle, youth must be at least 10-year-old.

Here is a look into the 2018 Woodford County 4-H shooting sports schedule.

Archery

Choose one of the two sessions for each workshop (5 – 6:30 p.m. OR 6:30 – 8 p.m.) at the Farm Bureau Park, Eureka. Workshops will be April 9, 16, 23; May 7, 14, June 4, 11, 18, 25; July 9 will be the final shoot.

.22 Rifle

Clinics will be on Thursday evenings, 5 – 7 p.m. (or until dark), at the Secor Sportsman’s Club, Secor:  April 12, 19, 26; May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; June 7.

Shotgun

Clinics will be on Thursday evenings, 5 – 7 p.m. (or until dark) at the Secor Sportsman’s Club, Secor:  April 5, 12, 19, 26; May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; June 7; special events (sporting clays, etc.) Dates are to be determined.

Air Rifle

Clinics will be on Saturday mornings, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Farm Bureau Park, Eureka:  April 7, 14, 21, 28; May 5, 12, 19, 26; June 2 & 9 will be the final shoots. 

Air Pistol

Clinics will be on Saturdays, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Park, Eureka: April 7, 14, 21, 28; May 5, 12, 19, 26; June 2 & 9 will be the final shoots.

Hunting & Outdoor Skills – Workshops will start in October. Dates are to be determined.
