June 13

Music at the Mansion

The Mary J. Harris Trio will perform a show called “Broadway at the Mansion.” Beer, wine, soda and water will be sold. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

DeKalb Farmers’ Market

The DeKalb Farmers Market features more than 30 vendors offering locally-grown produce, wine, baked goods, flowers and artisan crafts.

Slime

Maple Park Public Library, 302 Willow St., Maple Park
Free

Join in some summer fun when Rylie Roubal from the Hinckley Public Library will demonstrate how to make slime. Each participant will get to make two kinds of slime. All supplies will be provided. This will be messy, so the wearing of appropriate clothing is advised. Registration is required. Call 815-827-3362.

Sycamore City Wide Garage Sales

Sycamore will host this year’s city-wide estate, yard and sidewalk sale. There will be as many as 100 sales across town. Each seller sets his or her own sale times. A list of addresses, sale times and items for sale is available discoverysycamore.com.

BLOCK Fest

BLOCK Fest is designed for children ages 8 months to 8 and their families. During an event, children have the opportunity to explore five varieties of non-interlocking blocks while families interact with their children and learn how to support block play at home. BLOCK Fest is an opportunity for families to learn how to support their children’s math and science growth. Registration required. Call 815-895-2500.

Men’s Basketball Father Kid Camp

Kids Coding: Logo

This programming class will teach students in grades 4-8 the basics of programming by drawing. They will be entering simple commands into the computer, telling a turtle on the screen to move a certain direction. When the turtle moves, a pencil moves with him. Registration is required. Pioneer Camp

Russell Woods Forest Preserve, one mile west of Genoa on Rt. 72
$120 per child

This is one of five weeklong camps offered by the DeKalb County. At this camp, youngsters will experience the life of pioneer children. Campers will make candles, cook food in a Dutch oven, play pioneer games and other activities. Campers also will get to make decisions during a simulated wagon train activity.

AARP Driving Safe Course|
