Phillips Theological Seminary President to Deliver EC Baccalaureate Sermon

EUREKA – The Rev. Gary Peluso-Verdend, president of Phillips Theological Seminary, Tulsa, will give the sermon at the Eureka College baccalaureate service for graduates at 6:30 PM, May 9 in the Cerf Center. The service is free and open to the public.

Peluso-Verdend’s sermon will focus on what he calls “the monumental challenges and opportunities for service in our globalized society, in which the calling of laity to just and compassionate living has never been more important.” He will refer to Micah 6:6-8.

Peluso-Verdend teaches practical theology at Phillips, an ecumenical seminary affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He previously was dean, vice president of stewardship and director of the doctor of ministry program at Phillips.
