EUREKA – The October 9 meeting of the Woodford County Historical Society will be a report of the progress being made on accumulating information on the over 100 rural schools in the county. Leland Zimmerman, Committee Chairman, will give an overview of the project and solicit information on the schools from the audience. The meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 9 at the Apostolic Christian Community Room in Eureka.

“We are asking everyone in the County to help us fill in the gaps on the country schools,” Zimmerman said. “This is a very large project, and the only way we will be able to accomplish it is with the help of those who attended those schools.”

The result of all the data collection will be a hardback book about Woodford County rural schools. It is anticipated that it will take 2 years to complete the project.

The Historical Society isn’t just about ‘old stuff.’ It is a group dedicated to gathering information about the County that will be saved for future generations. Membership dues are $15 for a single person and $25 for a family. In addition to the 10 programs sponsored each year, members receive a quarterly newsletter, the Archive.
