Kids’ kite building, a family fun fly, candy drop and stunts and tricks by professional flyers will keep your eyes on the skies, during Kite Fest, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 11 at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave., Elmhurst.

Aug. 9

August Summer Concert
6:30 p.m.
Cortesi Veterans Memorial Park, 318 E. Kenilworth, Villa Park

Flat Cats will perform a range of vintage and modern music rooted in swinging jazz, blues and American standards. Food will be available for purchase at the VFW Post 2801 concession stand starting at 6 p.m.

Family Roller Night
6:30-8:30 p.m.
Lombard Roller Rink, 2011 W. 22nd St., Elmhurst
$5, $4 for Elmhurst Heritage Foundation members, $4 skate rental

Enjoy a rocking-and-rolling night of skating. Waivers are required of all skaters. View rink rules at lombardrollerrink.com. Children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Naperville Municipal Band Concert
7:30 p.m.
Central Park, 104 E. Benton Ave., Naperville

The theme for this concert is “Thanks for the Memories.”

Aug. 10

Movie in the Park
Wilder Park, 175 S. Prospect Ave., Elmhurst

Grab a picnic dinners and blankets for a showing of the animated classic, “101 Dalmatians.” Family fun and food truck service begin at 7:30 p.m. Movie will begin at dusk, approximately 8:30 p.m.

Aug. 11

Kite Fest
11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave., Elmhurst

Kids’ kite building, a family fun fly, candy drop and stunts and tricks by professional flyers will keep your eyes on the skies. The fest will start and end with a sport kite performance. Food trucks will be on site.

DuPage Architects Exhibit Opening

DuPage County Historical Museum, 102 E. Wesley St., Wheaton

The Museum’s newest exhibit, DuPage Architects, opens, showing the county’s rich architectural history. Explore the talent and skill of individuals behind the designs in the exhibit.

Voices of DuPage

Lombard Cruise Night and Summer Concert

St. Charles Road, just east of Main Street, downtown Lombard

Cruise Nights is open to all classic and custom cars. The car theme is 1980s models and newer. Breakfast Club Band will cover the top hits from the 1980s. The Helen Plum Library will have activities for children. Call 630-620-5718 with any questions.

French Market

The French Market offers a selection of services, vegetables, fruits, crafts, bakery, meat and other items for sale to the general public.

Peoples Community Church 11th Anniversary

The church will hold a worship service at 9 a.m., and the anniversary concert will be held at 1 p.m. featuring Grammy Award nominee, Todd Dulaney.

Aug. 15

“How Do I Get My Customer to Say Yes?”

Turning suspects into prospects and moving them through your sales pipeline to the point where they say “yes” to your offering is a challenging and time consuming process. Join a discussion facilitated by SCORE, a group of business mentors, on how to shepherd prospect clients through the sales process and convert more leads into sales.

Jazz in the Park
7-9 p.m.
Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn

The Glen Ellyn Jazz Ensemble, a 16-member group, will perform a mix of popular big band tunes. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic dinners. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be canceled. No alcoholic beverages are allowed.
