Theme for the concert is America the Beautiful, sponsored by Two Boston’s Pet Boutique. Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture will be performed. The members of Wesley United Methodist Church will hold a bake sale. Concert-goers are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. (Bench seating is limited). The City Centre Plaza will be rockin’ with the sounds of two bands. The House Band from Elmhurst’s School of Rock will kick off the fun at 6 p.m. and a band of local high school students will perform at 7 p.m.

Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta

The Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta tests the creativity of youngsters and adults as they take on the challenge of building a boat made (almost) entirely of cardboard and attempt to paddle a course around scenic Lake Ellyn before it sinks. No metal, wood, screws or motors are allowed. In addition to the races, spectators can enjoy food, beverages, live minnow races and cheering on their favorite team. Be sure to stick around for the awards ceremony to see which boats will take home a prize – from best decorated to most spectacular sinking. More information is at gepark.org/regatta.html.
