No one was injured during an armed robbery that occurred at a food mart in Oswego on the afternoon of April 23.

According to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department, a man walked into the Oswego Food Mart, 100 block of Light Road, around 1:29 p.m. on Saturday, April 23 and pointed a handgun at several store employees who were working inside.

He made off with an unspecified amount of cash, and fled the scene.

Deputy Mike Mrozek said no employees were inside the store when the robbery occurred. The suspect, described as Hispanic, was seen fleeing the area in a dark-colored SUV.

During their investigation, deputies were able to retrieve images of the suspect from surveillance videos at the food mart. They posted the photo to social media in an attempt to identify the man.

“The quality of that photo is excellent,” Mrozek said. “Hopefully it will generate some tips … We encourage all businesses to spend an extra few dollars and get some quality surveillance equipment. It really helps.”

Mrozek said the last time the food mart was robbed was in June 2011. In that case, an arrest was made.

He said the most recent incident appears to be isolated, and police are asking for the public’s help in bringing the suspect to justice

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office at (630) 553-5856 or email detectives@co.kendall.il.us. People who want to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers at (630) 553-5999.
