Local Muslims receive threats

Dr. Fazal Khan, president of the American Muslim Community Organization in Lake in the Hills says that threats and intimidation are worse now than after attacks on New York City 14 years ago. Both the organization and the local mosque condemned the attacks in Paris and other parts of the world. Khan believes that anti-Muslim sentiment is fanned by the sentiment of public figures and lawmakers who attempt to block Syrian refugees from resettling. Khan says ISIS extremists are “cherry picking” verses of the Quran and that Islam is built on peace, fellowship, and building a relationship with God.

Arnold Engineering Co. and 300 West L.L.C. were ordered to provide water to the six property owners affected by the contamination and to investigate the nature and extent of the contamination. Annexation to Marengo and providing city water may be the best solution, according to some residents. A settlement conference is set for Dec. 14.
