The University of Illinois Extension will offer I on Diabetes taught by Jenna Smith, nutrition and wellness educator and Registered Dietitian four Thursday sessions on March 3, 10, 17 and 24. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Woodford County Extension Office, 109 E. Eureka Ave., Eureka.

There is a program fee of $25 per person for all four sessions, or $35 for two people (1 set of materials to take home). This fee is for the purchase of food and supplies.

No products will be sold at the classes. Advanced registration is required by Tuesday, March 1. Space is limited, so enroll now.

I on Diabetes is a series of four, three-hour sessions designed for anyone interested in preventing or managing diabetes. The program provides information on treatment goals and self-monitoring, managing carbohydrates, sodium, and fat portions, planning meals, reading food labels, and using artificial sweeteners and herbs and spices. In each session, participants receive recipes, watch cooking demonstrations, and taste foods to meet their dietary needs.

This program is meant to compliment the recommendations of your health care provider and to help you and/or your loved one manage diabetes.
