Xfinity to host grand opening of East Peoria store

Tazewell 021916 Xfinity store WEB ONLYComcast is marking its official grand opening of the Xfinity retail store, 426 W. Washington St.,

in East Peoria with a ribbon cutting ceremony today, Friday, Feb. 19.

Comcast along with East Peoria Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rick Swan and East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus are scheduled to attend the event that begins at 9:15 a.m.

The store opens to the public at 10 a.m.

Grand opening festivities will take place on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20. The public is welcome at the following events:

Friday, Feb. 19

  • 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Prizes and free giveaways
  • 2. to 4 p.m.: Meet Peoria Chiefs mascot Homer
  • 5 to 7 p.m.: Live radio remote with Peoria’s 92.3 and fun giveaways*

Saturday, Feb. 20

  • 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Prizes and free giveaways*
  • 1. to 3 p.m.: Meet Peoria Chiefs mascot Homer, live radio remote with Peoria’s 92.3 and fun giveaways.

The East Peoria Xfinity store is located in the Levee District. The 5,000-square-foot space is designed to give visitors real life, hands-on demonstrations of Xfinity’s range of products and services, from cable TV, high-speed Internet and home phone services, to the company’s home security and home automation platform, Xfinity Home.

The store also features iPads and other mobile devices visitors can use to explore Xfinity’s Android and iOS apps. Apps range from Xfinity TV Go, which allows customers to watch live TV, stream On Demand content and download movies and TV shows, to Xfinity Home, which allows customers to manage and monitor their homes while on the go. Along with product and service demos, customers can pay bills, pick up and return equipment and get assistance from trained, knowledgeable sales consultants. ​
