EUREKA – Pianist Adam Neiman, violinist Stefan Milenkovich and cellist David Commanday will perform a concert of chamber music at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 19 in the Chapel at Eureka College.

The program will include “Piano Trio in B Major, Opus 8” by Johannes Brahms, “Allegro” from the “Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 29 in B-flat Major, Opus 106 — The Hammerklavier” and other selections.

Neiman is among the premiere pianists of his generation, praised for possessing a rare blend of power, bravura, imagination, sensitivity and technical precision. Neiman has performed as soloist with major symphony orchestras around the world. 

Named as Serbia’s Brand Personality of the Year for 2010, Milenkovich is a unique artist with an extraordinary productive longevity, professionalism and creativity.  

An avid chamber musician, he performs frequently with the Jupiter Chamber Music Series, Manchester Music Festival, High Peaks Chamber Music Festival and the Zagreb Chamber Music Festival. Milenkovich began performing with orchestra at age 6 and played for President Ronald Reagan in a White House Christmas concert at age 7. By age 17, he was a prizewinner in eight international violin competitions on two continents. 

Milenkovich is associate professor of violin at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and has recently accepted the position of artistic director of the DoCha Chamber Music Festival in Champaign.

Commanday is Eureka College’s artist-in-residence and artistic director of the Heartland Festival Orchestra. He has previously performed as conductor and cellist with both of the artists joining him in this concert. Commanday is known in Central Illinois for his chamber music collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Bobby McFerrin, Matt Haimovitz and Antonio Pompa-Baldi.

Commanday has conducted orchestras around the world, including the National Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, American Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, Belgian Radio Orchestra, Vienna Pro Arte Orchestra and the Seattle, Atlanta, and Richmond symphonies.
