Move Over, Vera Bradley!

EUREKA – Just for the fun of it, members and guests of the Woodford County Sewing Guild will each sew up a purse and bring it to the August 16th meeting at the Farm Bureau Building, 117 W. Center in Eureka.

Just about everyone who sews has made at least one purse, and their experience in doing so and the products that resulted are interesting and often humorous. Those who didn’t yield to the temptation to create their own ‘Vera Bradley’ purse are welcome as well. The 7:00 PM meeting is free and open to the public.
Every woman knows the Vera Bradley style of feminine luggage and purses, and it has been a challenge to figure out how to duplicate the look and convenience in our own creations. Pattern companies print numerous patterns every year, not all of which are as easy to make or use as they look to be at first glance. At the August meeting everyone will get the opportunity to share her experiences and is asked to bring the pattern as well as the finished purse.
The Woodford County Sewing Guild is a Neighborhood Group of the Peoria Chapter of the American Sewing Guild. It is open to everyone who likes to work with needles, hooks, thread or yarn. Each meeting is filled with good conversation, tips and techniques, and much laughter. Held on the third Thursday of the month, all meetings are free and open to the public. The September 20th meeting will feature a demonstration of stamping as it is used in creating unique fabrics. Attendees are invited to bring their own stamps, projects and stamping experiences to share with the rest of us.
