 Carol Wood Retires from Illinois Prairie District Library

METAMORA – Carol Wood, bookkeeper and district technology assistant for Illinois Prairie District Public Library, was honored for her 21 years of service with a dinner held at the Grand Village China Buffet, Tuesday, December 30th. The IPDPL board, district and branch staff members, and Metamora library branch volunteers were all there to thank Carol for her years of service.  Carol’s last day was Wednesday, December 31st.

On behalf of the board of Illinois Prairie District Public Library, the director Grant Fredericksen, presented Carol with a gift card as a thank you gift in appreciation of her years of service. Other gifts, cards and well wishes were also received.

Carol started with Illinois Prairie District Public Library in April 1993 as a member of the Headquarters staff as the districts’ bookkeeper, then became full time in July 2001 as the district technology assistant.

Carol stated her favorite parts of the job were the challenges, the changes within both the bookkeeping and technology. Carol managed the computers for all six library branches, taught computer classes at Snyder Village Nursing Home, at our branch libraries, and also helped patrons, staff and volunteers with computer related Issues.

Some of the activities Carol will be doing in her spare time are traveling to visit a grandchild in Oxford, England, working on quilting projects, doing family history and volunteering.
