Advocate BroMenn Medical Center Graduates Residents, Honors Faculty

Advocate BroMenn Medical Center’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program recently graduated its thirteenth class of residents with a dinner and ceremony at the Medici Rooftop Patio in Normal.
Drs. Michael Casey and Brian Hudson graduated from the neurosurgery residency program, while Drs. Amy Doherty, Daniel Gibson and Joseph Larouche graduated from the family medicine residency program.
Dr. Joshua Bentley, fourth year neurosurgery resident, was the recipient of the Dr. John Krueger Award, given annually to a student who excels in professionalism, support of the Advocate mission, interpersonal relationships and leadership.
Faculty awards were also presented as part of the graduation ceremony. For the Family Medicine program, Clinical Faculty Member of the Year was Dr. Manju Jayanna; Didactic Faculty Member of the Year was Dr. Aaron Traeger; and Non-Physician Contributor of the Year was Molly Horio, librarian for the A.E. Livingston Health Sciences Library. On the Neurosurgery side, the award for Clinical Faculty Member of the Year was Dr. Keith Schaible; Didactic Faculty Member of the Year went to Dr. Hamad Issam Farhat; and Non-Physician Program Contributor of the Year was nurse Rayford Rattley. For the Neurology program, Clinical Faculty Member of the Year was Dr. Curtis Hayden; Didactic Faculty Member of the Year was Dr. Sunil Chauhan; and Non-Physician Contributor of the Year was Victoria Steinkoenig, advanced practice nurse. All of these awards were determined by the programs’ interns/residents.
BroMenn Medical Center’s neurosurgery residency program began in July 2002 and was the community’s first post-graduate medical residency program. The family medicine residency followed in July 2004, then the neurology program in 2013.
