Great River Road flood conditions

Although flooding has been a problem along the Great River Road, the Scenic Byway is open and most business are open and ready to welcome guests. The road from Alton to Pere Marquette State Park is also open as of July 10. The river is expected to rise to 28.1 feet at Alton and 24.5 feet at Grafton on Saturday, July 11. Flood stage at Alton is 21 feet and 21.9 feet in Grafton.

The Grafton fireworks has been postponed to Friday, July 24, and there have been some closures including the Hawg Pit BBQ in Grafton, the Grafton Ferry, and the Brussels Ferry. For more information, visit http://www.visitalton.com/feature-stories/detail/43/great-river-road-flood-conditions.
