DuPage GOP picks new chairman
Brian Krajewski will lead the DuPage County GOP after years of success as chairman of the Downers Grove Township Republican Organization.
More than 240 Republican precinct committeemen elected Krajewski to become DuPage GOP chairman during their biennial county convention in Wheaton.
Clerk of the Circuit Court Chris Kachiroubas was elected to the position of secretary.
Krajewski replaced Darlene Ruscitti, who last month announced that she wasn’t going to seek a third, two-year term. Krajewski, 54, has been a DuPage County Board member since 2010. He served as mayor of Downers Grove from 1999 to 2007.

D181 student artwork on exhibit at annual student art expo
Local students’ work will be among the more than 525 pieces of artwork created by local elementary and middle school students that will be displayed, thanks to the West Suburban Consortium for Academic Excellence (WSCAE).
Work of District 181 students will be part of the exhibit from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. April 23, at Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid Ave., Oak Park. This marks the second consecutive year that the West Suburban Consortium for Academic Excellence (WSCAE) school districts are hosting the event to showcase K-8 student artwork from their schools. District 181 is among the participating districts. District 181 has preK to 8th grade students from Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and parts of Burr Ridge, Oak Brook and Willowbrook,
Student artists will be present to discuss their pieces. A number of local professional artists from the surrounding communities will be on hand to view the artwork and provide feedback, and members of the Oak Park Art League will be lead live art demonstrations.

WESTMONT
Registration is open for annual Race to the Flag
Wetmont Park District (WPD) and People’s Resource Center (PRC) announce that they will be hosting the 7th Annual Race to the Flag 5K in Westmont May 29 at Ty Warner Park. For the first time, People’s Resource Center, located in Westmont and Wheaton, will be the beneficiary of the race.
Register at http://bit.ly/1U7tTef. The registration fee is $28 for adults, $24 for groups, $18 for veterans and $10 for children aged 6 – 18. Children 5 and younger are free.
The race will begin at 8 a.m. and starts and finishes at Ty Warner Park. It is a CARA and USTAF Certified 5K course and a chip timed event. Prizes will be awarded to the overall men’s and overall women’s winner, and for men and women in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and over.
Runners and walkers are both welcome at the race and all participants will be treated to a complementary pancake breakfast after the event.
PRC opened its new permanent location in Westmont near Ty Warner Park in April 2015 and is now helping to serve more than 32,000 DuPage County residents who need food, clothing, or financial assistance.
