The final round approaches for Fox Valley Golf Club.

After more that four decades as a destination for golf and special events, the club will permanently close on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Owned by the City of Aurora but located in North Aurora since an annexation two decades ago, the facility faced the need for more than $1 million in upgrades plus a highly competitive golf market in the area.

So the Aurora City Council unanimously voted to sell the facility to Odawa Development LLC for $5 million. A senior housing project has been proposed for the site.

Fox Valley Golf Club, located across Illinois Route 25 from the Red Oak Nature Center, was built during the 1920s and features an 18-hole course plus banquet facility.

Final rounds are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1. The course is offering special weekday and weekend rates in its final days.

“The City of Aurora and golf staff want to thank patrons who have continued to support the Fox Valley Golf Club over the past 40 years,” said Jeff Schmidt, Aurora PGA Operations Manager.

The City of Aurora also owns and operates the historic Phillips Park Golf Course, a national award-winning facility that is a popular golfing destination for players throughout Chicagoland and for charity golf outings in the area.

Call the Fox Valley Golf Club at (630) 879-1030 to schedule a tee time.
