The Kane County Cougars, with the help of their social media followers, have officially unveiled the championship ring design that commemorates the 2014 Midwest League Champion Cougars squad.

With creative direction led by Cougars graphic designer Emmet Broderick, the ring is composed of 10-karat pure white gold with a total of 58 stones which symbolize the franchise’s record total of 58 regular season and post-season victories at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in 2014.

Flanking the Cougars’ full-color primary logo on the top face of the ring are two emeralds to symbolize the franchise’s two league championships in 2001 and 2014.

One shank of the ring lists the individual’s name with the Cougars’ secondary logo prominently displayed. The other shank includes the Cubs logo to signify the Cougars’ big league affiliation with the Cubs during the 2014 championship campaign.

This shank of the ring also highlights the team’s final record of 98-49, which led all of Minor League Baseball in 2014. The rings were produced by Jostens, the Minnesota-based company that was formed in the late 19th century and has been at the forefront of ring designs for sports teams.

Last month, Jostens was selected by the College Football Playoff (CFP) to create the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship ring.

Throughout this week, the Cougars received help from their social media followers to help virtually “unveil” the ring design through a social media contest offered on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

During the social media unveiling, randomly selected Cougars social media followers who participated in the virtual ring unveiling won unique prizes from the 2014 squad including team autographed baseballs, championship merchandise as well as ceremonial first pitches and game tickets for the Cougars’ upcoming 25th anniversary season that kicks off on April.

“This beautiful ring perfectly encapsulates a season that was filled with unforgettable moments and serves as a fantastic reminder of a record-breaking year for our team and franchise”, Cougars owner Dr. Bob Froehlich said. “We couldn’t be happier with the final product, which is absolutely stunning and has a place among the crown jewels of championship ring designs in Minor League Baseball.”

The Cougars’ 2014 season culminated in a Midwest League Championship and included a franchise-record 91 regular season wins, along with a perfect 7-0 mark in the postseason.

The Cougars’ 98 total wins were the tbird-most across all Minor League Baseball teams in the past decade. Kane County also set franchise records this past season with a 13-game win streak, 2.85 team ERA and 54-17 regular season home record.

The Cougars received special recognition in October by Minor League Baseball as the ’14 squad was named the “Best Team” in the Minor League Baseball “MiLBY” awards.
