Introducing New Karo LITE Syrup

CHICAGO /PRNewswire/ — In response to the growing concern over sugar and calories, Karo — the leading American brand of corn syrup — has announced the introduction of the first major brand of reduced-calorie syrup in the corn syrup section. Karo Lite Syrup (with a new light-blue label) has 33 percent fewer calories than the other clear Karo syrup (Karo Light, red label), and has zero grams of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Karo Lite contains these benefits without sacrificing flavor or taste in the recipe, says Karo. Both Karo LITE and Karo LIGHT are clear syrups from the leading American corn syrup brand since 1902. Karo Light Corn Syrup refers to the light color, where Karo Lite Syrup refers to the reduced calories in the product.
“Consumers told us they are concerned about calories,” said Diane McElroy, Karo brand director of consumer affairs. “And many said they were avoiding foods with HFCS. New Karo Lite addresses both of these concerns. And we’re releasing more than a dozen new lower-calorie recipes on karosyrup.com, which we’re confident will be hits with consumers and their families.”
The new Karo product roll-out caps-off several hundred in-home product trials. Performance and satisfaction scores have been extremely high for this product. Karo Lite is a direct result of feedback from consumers and the growing concern over high caloric foods and high fructose corn syrup.
New Karo Lite has zero grams of HFCS. Karo Lite comes in a clear, shatterproof 16-ounce plastic bottle, and is appearing in more and more stores throughout the fall of 2008.
NOTE: For best results in candy and no-bake cereal bars, original Karo Light Corn Syrup is recommended.
Karo is a member of the ACH Food Companies, Inc. family of grocery products.
