Library hosts Showtime in the Garden, movie night
The Morton Public Library, 315 W. Pershing, presents a lunchtime break every Friday through July 26. Eat your picnic lunch in the garden at noon and then enjoy and family friendly performance at 12:30.

SUBHED: Police Dept. hosting for Cop for Kids this summer
Along with the Pekin Park District, Pekin Archers Club and Sunset Bowling Lanes, the Pekin Police Department can provide these events free of charge. Come out and meet your local officers.
As always, these are free events offered to the community to make the children of our community more comfortable with the officers that protect them. This year we are inviting the Pekin Park Police and Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department to all of the events.
The police and parks will be inviting some of the smaller agencies in the area to some of the events.
The only event you will need a ticket for is bowling at Sunset Lanes on July 16. They will be available at the Pekin Police front desk on June 30.

Summer pass gives unlimited admission to museum
Visitors to the Illinois State Museum this summer can have unlimited access to exploration, discovery, learning and admission for just $10 with the museum’s summer pass, now available for purchase at museum in Springfield.
“The Illinois State Museum has extensive exhibits and a calendar full of programs that seek to tell the story of the land, life, people and art of Illinois – so much so that we know people will want to come back again and again,” said Elizabeth Bazan, interim director of education, Illinois State Museum. “That’s why we’re so excited to offer unlimited access to the great things the museum has to offer for a one-time $10 fee this summer.”
For $10, visitors to the Illinois State Museum in Springfield can purchase unlimited admission for one adult through Labor Day.
With the summer pass, visitors can enjoy admission to the museum and all of this summer’s great programming including weekly tours, the Summer Film Fest, Super Saturdays, Story Times, and more.
Summer pass holders are not entitled to Museum Society Membership benefits such as program discounts and members-only events.
Regular museum admission is $5 for adults ages 19-64. Admission for children, seniors, veterans, and military personnel is always free.
Through Labor Day, admission also is free for the families of veterans and active duty military personnel through the Blue Star Museum program.
The summer pass will expire Sept. 2. The museum is located at 502 S. Spring St., Springfield.

TAZEWELL COUNTY
Officials host public workshop on redistricting
The Tazewell County Clerk and Recorder of Deeds Office will be hosting a public workshop meeting on Thursday, June 6 at 4 p.m. in the Tazewell County Clerk’s Office to continue the process of redistricting the precincts in Tazewell County.
The county currently has 135 precincts of various populations. The goal of this redistricting effort is to balance the population of precincts in the county.
This meeting will review the results of the previous meeting on May 6, showing and reviewing the results, which produced a suggested reduction in Tazewell County Precincts to 109.
This redistricting process must be completed and approved by the County Board at its June Meeting.
Based on the results of the first public workshop, the following townships in Tazewell County will see changes: Delavan, Elm Grove, Little Mackinaw, Mackinaw, Sand Prairie, Tremont, Cincinnati, Fondulac, Groveland, Morton, Washington, and Pekin.

Agencies take part in free public emergency expo
Bring family and friends out to the emergency expo on Wednesday, June 5 at The Shoppes at Grand Prairie from 4-7 p.m.
Numerous local emergency response agencies will display their emergency equipment in the parking lot between Dick’s Sporting Goods and the former Bergner’s.
Families are invited to explore vehicles, try on gear, and talk with professional first responders during this free community event.
Emergency equipment featured at the expo includes multiple firetrucks and apparatuses, an OSF Life Flight helicopter, police armored vehicles and motorcycle units, and a safety firehouse. There will also be food trucks nearby to grab something to eat.
