Dr. Knepp Named to UnityPoint Post

PEORIA — UnityPoint Health-Methodist I Proctor has a new Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer (COO). Keith Knepp, MD, has assumed the role of COO of both organizations effective January 8, 2014. Debbie Simon, President and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Methodist I Proctor, announced the appointment, citing strong experience and knowledge of the healthcare industry as well an excellent understanding of clinical care delivery and the local market.

Dr. Keith Knepp began a Family Medicine career in Eureka, Illinois, in 2000 following a residency at Methodist Medical Center. He became the Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Methodist Medical Group (now UnityPoint Health Clinic) in 2010 and then Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Methodist Medical Center in 2011. In February 2012 he was named Vice President of Systems Integration, with direct responsibility for Information Technology, Quality, and Analytics, and oversight of care coordination activities.

Dr. Knepp received his undergraduate degree from Illinois State University and completed medical school at the University of Illinois, graduating with honors and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed an American Medical Informatics Association “10×10” Program in Medical Informatics through the Oregon Health and Science University.  He has pursued additional career development through the UnityPoint Health organization, graduating from its Physician Leadership Academy in 2012 and through current enrollment in its Executive Leadership Academy.

In his new role, Dr. Knepp will serve as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Clinical Services for UnityPoint Health-Methodist I Proctor. He will be responsible for hospital operations at campuses, as well as having direct oversight of Nursing/Patient Services, Surgery/Anesthesia, Oncology, Imaging, Lab, Pharmacy, Informatics, and Quality and Safety.

In making the announcement, Debbie Simon said, “Dr. Knepp will be a key leader as we continue to transform our organization to meet the changing face of healthcare. Together with the rest of our executive team, Keith will be instrumental in positioning Methodist | Proctor for successful integration, performance excellence, care coordination and growth.”

Dr. Knepp and his wife Michelle live in Eureka with their four children, Emily, Ross, Grant and Galen.
